Welcome to my website about Blyth Spartans Juniors U10s.

This is our second competitive season as a team after we competed in the KYPC Amberley League in the 2008/9 season. We finished in third place in both the Autumn and Winter Leagues with some good passing football and plenty of goals.  We are now moving into Sunday football in the Northumberland Mini Soccer League, with the season starting on 13th September.  As the season progresses, I will keep the website updated with news and results.

At the halfway stage of the qualification league, we are sitting mid table, with a few wins, a draw and a few defeats. However, as the season has progressed the team are getting better as they have started to gel after the big changes of players over the summer and the defeats by both Cramlington Juniors Whites and Montagu Lions showed great team performances and best of all commitment and effort from the squad.  In both games, the scores could have been closer and looking back on reflection if we had taken some of the chances when the scores were level, the flow of the games could have changed in our favour.  Although we are out of the Divisional Cup, the league cup starts in mid-November and we'll see how well we progress in that.

A hard fought match against Ponteland in the League Cup saw us losing 5-3, so it's now into the League Shield draw as another chance of silverware.

The league continued through November and December with some disruption due to the weather.  This part of the season saw us claim wins against Whitley Bay FC Ajax, North Shields Cougars and Tynemouth Blues, to give us a sixth place finish in our qualification league.

The trophy leagues have now been set up based on all teams finishing positions in the qualification leagues.  This sees a two part Premiership (First Division) due to the number of stronger teams and Spartans have been placed into Seria A (Second Division), with Cramlington Town, Cramlington Juniors Blues, Ashington AFC, Walker Central Whites, Morpeth Millennium, Northburn Wanderers and Seaton Delaval Tiblisi.

Yet again, the weather has intervened to disrupt the match fixtures.  Snow followed by waterlogged pitches saw three of our first five post Christmas games cancelled.  An away defeat to Seaton Delaval and then an away win at Ashington were the two games played.  More postponements followed with the weather before we got a chance to get this league started properly.

Inconsistency was the story of the rest of the season.  We had some great performances against top of the league teams with a double over Ashington and a draw each against both Walker Whites and Cramlington Juniors Blues.  But very tight games and losing by the odd goal to teams around us cost us points.

The season ended with a mini "cup" run in the League Shield.  Narrow wins against both Ponteland and Northburn Wanderers saw us in a quarter final against North Shields Tigers which again was a tight game but we lost 2-1.
